GE Vernova is seeking a Lead Generator Controls Field Service Engineer who will be part of a Regional Service Team responsible for providing exceptional service to customers across the USA. The role involves managing resources and logistics for service and maintenance activities, ensuring quality and timely execution of projects related to generator controls and power generation equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Support execution of retrofit projects including installation, power up, and commissioning of one or more of the following: Excitation control solutions (EX2100e, EX2100, EX2000 DFE), Static Starter control solutions (LS2100, LS2100e), HMI upgrades, and TIL implementation
- Provide technical direction and guidance to craft labor in support of a power equipment outage
- Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute policy/strategy
- Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
- Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in Power generation, generator controls, and or turbine controls
- This role requires advanced experience in Field Service and Technical Advising in the Power Generation Industry. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience)
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
- Ability to travel for weeks at a time; 50% travel as required
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
- Established project management skills
- Electronics and/or mechanical trouble shooting skills
