The Technical Director, Distinguished Engineer role involves driving innovation and scalability within the core storage ecosystem while collaborating with various teams to deliver secure and efficient infrastructure solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Engage in strategy and execution, and work closely with BU leadership on various aspects of development and execution to deliver secure, efficient, and innovative infrastructure solutions
- Work closely with the field leadership on key customer needs, engagements, and support activities that can grow the business
- Pioneering storage engineering initiatives to design, build, and maintain scalable and resilient infrastructure platforms that support HV’s operational and strategic objectives
- Collaborating closely with Security & Compliance teams to implement and enforce policies and configurations that meet HV security standards
- Partnering with Product Management to develop and enhance the core platform capabilities, enabling efficient deployment and testing processes
- Overseeing the maintenance, monitoring, and optimization of resources, focusing on performance, cost management, and security
- Acting as a subject matter expert in Hardware and software technologies, guiding the engineering team and partnering with IT, security, support, and business teams to deliver projects that align with strategic goals
- Establishing metrics and reporting mechanisms for health, performance, and costs, making recommendations for enhancements to senior leadership
- Fostering an environment of continuous improvement, staying ahead of industry trends, and evolving customer needs to recommend and implement changes in the core platform
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, with an in-depth understanding of Systems and Software engineering
- 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure and cloud services, including significant leadership experience in storage or networking engineering roles
- Proven track record in implementing cloud strategies, with hands-on experience in filesystems and/or data center infrastructures
- Deep understanding of Storage or systems infrastructure tooling, such as networking, virtual machines, key management, and more
- Experience in leading and mentoring engineering teams, with a focus on developing skills and capabilities in mission critical infrastructure
- Strategic leadership and visionary thinking in Systems and Software within the context of Enterprise Storage Technologies
- Building and nurturing cross-functional teams that embody agility and DevSecOps culture, promoting collaboration, innovation, and agility
- Demonstrating strong technical expertise in storage technologies, with a comprehensive understanding of data center architecture, security, and operations
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills, capable of managing complex projects and leading teams under tight deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Working independently as well as collaboratively in a virtual, geographically dispersed team environment
