J Michael Consulting is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead complex, high-impact informatics initiatives in collaboration with public health partners across federal, state, and local levels. This role leverages deep expertise in technical project management and team leadership to drive strategic planning, guide execution, and ensure successful delivery in fast-paced, evolving environments.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively at the executive level, manage client relationships and escalations, and collaborate across agencies and diverse stakeholder groups
- Drive organizational change and multi-system implementations, including readiness assessments, communication/training strategies, and adoption tracking
- Engage stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, supporting project management activities by identifying risks, developing mitigation strategies, and ensuring milestones and deliverables are met
- Lead complex, multi-phase technical projects using client-directed methodologies and/or JMC Project Management Office (PMO) standards to develop and maintain documentation, including project approaches, delivery plans, tracking tools, and collaborative templates
- Execute project management activities in alignment with client and JMC PMO policies, including (but not limited to) informatics business needs assessments, project process agreements, project plans, work breakdown structures, schedules, requirements, statements of work, and public health information security considerations
- Apply QA and testing methodologies, proactively mitigate risks, and maintain scope, budget, and timeline integrity in regulated environments
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, adapting to shifting priorities and evolving project needs
- Support and mentor junior Project Managers and Project Coordinators, fostering team development and knowledge sharing
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Informatics, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Project Manager in public health, laboratory, healthcare, or a related environment
- Experience in public health is strongly preferred, with familiarity across federal, state, and/or local health systems
- Experience applying Project Management Institute (PMI) methodologies and best practices
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in fast-paced, client-facing environments
- Experience using project management and collaboration tools, such as Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, Microsoft Office Suite, and/or Monday.com
- Proven experience managing software development and/or system implementation projects
- Experience supporting account management functions, including client strategic planning, proposal development, resource allocation, and budget development and monitoring
- Proficiency in developing and maintaining key project management artifacts, such as project charters, schedules, work breakdown structures, risk matrices, and project management plans
- Strong facilitation skills, with experience leading meetings and discussions with diverse stakeholder groups, including executive-level leadership
- Ability to lead cross-organizational initiatives and drive projects in a remote environment to successful, measurable outcomes
- Demonstrated ability to plan, promote, and advance public health programs by fostering collaboration, driving engagement, and providing strategic leadership
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly document and convey complex information, explain processes, and support large-scale technical assistance initiatives while leveraging efficiencies and reusable solutions
- Master's degree
