Optro is building an AI-native platform for connected risk and GRC, and they are seeking a VP of Engineering for their Platform & Architecture organization. This role involves leading the transformation of the platform architecture to enhance delivery speed and customer outcomes while modernizing core systems and establishing effective strategies for platform product and engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Optro’s Platform & Architecture organization, including strategy, roadmap, and execution across foundational platform capabilities
- Own the strategy and execution across platform product, platform engineering, and architecture
- Modernize core architecture in a way that materially improves engineering velocity
- Reduce dependency on legacy monolithic patterns over time with pragmatic transition strategy
- Accelerate CI/CD speed, testability, and overall delivery efficiency
- Transform Permission 2.0 from a long-term infrastructure project into a primary competitive advantage and value driver for customers
- Establish a clear API and integration strategy that supports growth, extensibility, and ecosystem value
- Build a shared data foundation that enables connected reporting, cross-domain workflows, and AI-powered insights
- Create platform capabilities that are adopted broadly across the company and tied directly to product and customer outcomes
- Partner closely with AI, Product, Design, and Engineering leaders to ensure platform modernization becomes a business accelerator
Requirements:
- Have led major platform modernization or re-architecture efforts in a scaling enterprise SaaS company
- Have successfully evolved legacy or monolithic systems into scalable, modular architectures
- Know how to balance long-term architectural quality with near-term business needs
- Can lead both platform product strategy and platform engineering execution
- Have experience owning shared services in an enterprise B2B SaaS environment including access/permissions, APIs/integrations, data platforms
- Understand how foundational architecture decisions impact engineering velocity, reliability, AI readiness, and customer experience
- Are highly pragmatic and outcome-oriented
- Think creatively about solving hard technical problems rather than relying on rigid or purely textbook approaches
- Can build credibility with senior product, engineering, AI, GTM/customer, and executive leaders
- Know how to bring teams along through transformation, not just define the future-state architecture
- 15+ years in software engineering / platform / architecture leadership
- Experience in B2B SaaS, enterprise platforms, or workflow software
- Experience leading architecture modernization in a live, scaled product environment
- Strong background in distributed systems, APIs, data platforms, and access management
- Experience partnering with AI/ML organizations to build AI-ready platform foundations
- Track record of building high-performing teams and transforming legacy technical environments
