Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Manager to support the daily operations of the dining facility at Fort Leonard Wood. This position plays a key role in supervising staff, ensuring high standards of food service, maintaining compliance with safety and sanitation regulations, and assisting the Site Manager in overall DFAC performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing day-to-day dining facility operations, including meal preparation, serving, and sanitation
- Supervise kitchen and service staff, ensuring adherence to company policies and military food service standards
- Maintain proper inventory levels; assist in ordering, receiving, and storing food and supplies
- Monitor compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations (HACCP and Army standards)
- Train new employees and assist with ongoing staff development
- Support scheduling, timekeeping, and performance evaluations
- Assist in resolving operational or personnel issues in a timely, professional manner
- Ensure customer satisfaction by overseeing food quality, cleanliness, and service flow
- Fill in for Site Manager during absences and act as a point of contact with DFAC leadership
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required, Associate’s or higher preferred
- 2+ years of food service or hospitality supervisory experience required
- Knowledge of military food service regulations is a plus
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
- Must be able to pass a background check and meet base access requirements
- SERV Safe Certification (or ability to obtain) preferred

The Assistant Manager will work in a high-volume, structured military dining facility. This role requires flexibility, attention to detail, and a commitment to service excellence. Physical activity including standing, lifting, and walking is required.
