Role: Google Cloud Platform Data Modeler

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Modeler to lead the design and implementation of flattened FHIR-based data models within Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform). This role will focus on transforming complex, nested healthcare datasets into analytics-ready schemas that support high-performance querying and downstream clinical use cases.
The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in BigQuery, healthcare data modeling, and FHIR/JSON transformations, along with the ability to build scalable and reusable data frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement flattened, analytics-optimized data models in BigQuery
- Develop mapping strategies to transform nested FHIR/JSON structures into relational or semi-relational schemas
- Create reusable data modeling frameworks and standards for scalability across domains
- Ensure data models support high-performance analytics and reporting use cases
- Collaborate with engineering teams to align models with data pipelines and Google Cloud Platform architecture
- Maintain data integrity, consistency, and normalization across datasets
- Optimize schemas for high concurrency and query performance
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in data modeling within Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Dataflow)
- Hands-on experience transforming nested/NoSQL data (FHIR, JSON) into structured schemas
- Deep understanding of data modeling concepts (normalization, denormalization, star/snowflake schemas)
- Experience with healthcare data standards (FHIR, HL7 preferred)
- Strong SQL skills and query optimization techniques
- Experience building analytics-ready datasets and reporting layers
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in clinical/healthcare data environments
- Familiarity with ETL/ELT pipelines and data engineering workflows
- Knowledge of data governance, lineage, and data quality frameworks
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
Education
- Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
