Lead Operations, Build Excellence, and Drive Safety
Position Overview
Join our team as a Ready Mix Batch Plant Manager and take the lead in producing high-quality ready-mix concrete that meets and exceeds customer expectations. You’ll oversee plant operations, ensure strict compliance with safety standards, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities
- Champion a safe work environment and ensure full compliance with all safety programs.
- Lead daily T5 toolbox safety talks and reinforce proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Plan and schedule plant production hours to maximize efficiency and meet customer demands.
- Provide clear direction and motivation to the plant crew, fostering teamwork and accountability.
- Collaborate closely with dispatch, sales, and customers to deliver orders on time and to specification.
- Maintain consistent communication with supervisors to address operational challenges and support business goals.
- Perform batching operations, ensuring accurate mix designs and precise metering of materials, water, and admixtures.
- Partner with Quality Control to guarantee product specifications and performance.
- Operate plant and mobile equipment as necessary to maintain seamless operations.
- Manage raw material deliveries, inventories, and ensure optimal supply levels.
- Oversee and actively participate in cleaning and maintenance of all plant equipment and site areas.
- Process payments, complete daily paperwork, and respond promptly to emails and reports.
- Support the safety department in accident investigations and uphold environmental compliance.
- Take on additional responsibilities as assigned.
- This position is designated as “Safety Sensitive.”
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; further education or training preferred.
- Valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record required; CDL Class A or B preferred.
- 3–5 years of progressive experience in concrete production or a related construction field.
- Proficiency with Windows-based computers and Microsoft Office Suite.
Work Requirements
- Pass pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background check.
- Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, OSHA, and MSHA regulations.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment and assist supervisors/managers with additional duties as required.
- Flexibility to work overtime, nights, and weekends as needed.
- Ability to travel and work away from home when necessary.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with customers and internal teams.
- Proven ability to supervise and motivate personnel to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving abilities under pressure.
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
- Ability to read, write, and follow detailed instructions.
- Competence in map reading and performing relevant mathematical calculations.
- Computer literacy for batching, billing, and communication systems.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and equipment regularly.
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. as part of routine operations.
- Bend, push, pull (up to 70 lbs.), reach, kneel, stoop, and twist using tools as required.
Work Environment
- Adaptability to all weather conditions and exposure to noise, fumes, gases, dust, and hazardous conditions.
- Maintain safety by wearing required PPE, including hard hats, safety glasses, vests, gloves, steel-toed shoes, and hearing protection.
