The College Board is responsible for a widely used digital platform, AP Classroom, which supports teachers and students across numerous schools. The Senior Product Manager will lead the strategy and execution of this platform, focusing on user experience improvements and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Define and evolve a clear product strategy that strengthens AP Classroom’s value for teachers, students, and administrators
- Develop and maintain a roadmap focused on high-impact improvements, balancing user needs, platform health, and organizational priorities
- Prioritize initiatives that reduce user friction, simplify workflows, improve usability, and optimize the platform for performance at scale
- Ensure the platform continues to support and align with changes to AP courses and exams, adapting functionality as program needs evolve
- Use platform data and user insights to identify and prioritize improvements that deliver measurable value
- Establish clear principles for prioritization and tradeoffs to guide time and resource investment decisions
- Align stakeholders across the AP Program and Digital Product organization to ensure cohesive execution
- Drive execution of the roadmap using Agile/Scrum practices, ensuring consistent delivery of prioritized improvements
- Ensure platform performance, reliability, scalability, and peak-season readiness remain top priorities
- Oversee backlog prioritization, sprint planning, and release management to maintain a steady cadence of meaningful improvements
- Partner with engineering, design, and content teams to define clear, actionable requirements and ensure high-quality delivery
- Lead targeted discovery and user research efforts to identify and verify friction points and validate improvements through prototypes, experiments, and other means
- Use analytics and feedback loops to continuously refine the product and ensure measurable gains in usability and effectiveness
- Maintain strong operational rigor, quickly triaging issues and proactively managing risks
- Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., Accessibility, Security, Data Governance) to ensure compliance
- Provide clear, outcome-focused updates to leadership and stakeholders that communicate measurable impact, platform performance, and risks and share insights, and demonstrate how roadmap delivery advances College Board’s strategic goals
- Communicate how product decisions drive improvements in user experience, platform quality, and program alignment
- Translate user behavior data and insights into actionable recommendations and priorities
- Engage with educators and internal stakeholders to gather feedback and ensure alignment with instructional needs
Requirements:
- 8+ years of product management or related experience, including leadership of large-scale digital platforms (experience in K-12 EdTech is a plus)
- Experience considering performance, scalability, and reliability in high-traffic environments (e.g., millions of users, peak season spikes), including making product trade-offs that support system stability under load
- Proven ability to come into an existing product/domain (e.g., EdTech, education systems, or similar) and build meaningful context quickly to contribute value
- Experience identifying user needs and diagnosing issues through data, research, and feedback, and delivering validated improvements to user experience and workflows
- Comfort leveraging product analytics, experimentation, and feedback loops to prioritize work, inform decision-making, validate solutions, and measure outcomes (experience with Adobe CJA and SQL a plus)
- Deep experience with Agile/Scrum, including owning backlogs, writing clear user stories, and partnering closely with engineering/design to drive consistent, high-quality sprint delivery. Jira experience is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear, concise communications that build shared understanding and alignment
- Strong track record of influencing without authority and working effectively with engineering, design, content, and program stakeholders
- The ability to travel 3-6 times a year to College Board offices or on behalf of College Board business
