About this roleThe Supervisor – Shipping & Receiving leads day-to-day warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, order picking, staging, loading, and unloading. This role ensures accurate, on-time order fulfillment while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. The Supervisor is also responsible for building and developing a strong team through hiring, training, and performance management, while fostering a positive, team-oriented work environment aligned with company values.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise and coordinate all shipping/receiving activities, including picking, staging, and loading/unloading.
• Ensure accurate, on-time fulfillment of outbound orders, including proper handling of temperature-sensitive products.
• Complete and process invoices and Bills of Lading (BOLs) accurately and on time.
• Close out daily shipping activities in compliance with warehouse systems and cold chain protocols.
• Lead, train, and mentor first-shift warehouse staff; enforce cold storage safety and handling standards.
• Assign tasks and manage staffing across dry and cold storage areas for optimal efficiency.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, and cross-training to increase operational flexibility.
• Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.
• Perform cycle counts and ensure inventory accuracy, stock rotation, and proper product labeling.
• Oversee inventory movements and transactions within ERP (M3) system.
• Ensure all products are stored and handled according to temperature and food safety requirements.
• Conduct routine equipment inspections and address maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
• Enforce workplace safety standards and maintain a clean, compliant environment.
• Coordinate staffing, PTO, and vacation coverage with Warehouse Manager.
• Schedule outbound shipments and next-day pickups aligned with production and cold storage needs.
• Act as backup for Warehouse Manager, ensuring continuity of operations.
• Monitor team performance, provide feedback, and support performance evaluations.
• Assist with administrative tasks and maintain accurate inventory records.
• Serve as backup to Inventory Coordinator to ensure continuity during absences or peak periods.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• The supervisor will be directly involved in hiring, developing, and training production associates in conjunction with company policies, procedures and culture while maintaining high level of employee engagement and dedication to customer service.
• Provide direction and support for team members and directing flow of daily assignments.
What Makes You a Great Fit:
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Warehouse Management, or related field preferred.
• 3+ years of warehouse operations experience, with at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory role.
• Experience in FDA-regulated environments and/or SQF or BRC-certified facilities preferred.
• Proficiency with ERP or production systems (e.g., M3, CAT2) and general computer literacy.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and analytical skills.
• Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt quickly, and maintain a high level of accuracy.
• Positive attitude with a strong willingness to learn and grow.
• Demonstrated reliability with excellent attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work in cold storage environments for extended periods and remain on your feet for long durations.
• Forklift certified with the ability to safely operate material handling equipment.
• Commitment to completing required training and adhering to standard work and safety practices.
Workspace Environment:
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects, up to 50 pounds, as needed.
• Ability to stand, walk, and perform manual labor for extended periods.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures, including coolers and freezers.
• May be required to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment, post offer drug screen, physical, and background check.
