Cardinal Health is a leader in healthcare services and products, focusing on information technology solutions. They are seeking a Senior Engineer to lead AI innovation within the Workday ecosystem, driving the strategic development and adoption of AI-powered capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Define AI Strategy: Shape and communicate a clear roadmap for AI-driven enhancements within Workday, including Illuminate, Extend, and Orchestrate
- Lead Product Development: Own the lifecycle of AI features and extensions—from ideation and prioritization to delivery and iteration
- Drive Innovation: Champion experimentation with generative AI, agentic workflows, and automation use cases across HR, Finance, and Operations
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with business leaders, developers, and end users to gather feedback, validate solutions, and ensure alignment with enterprise goals
- Governance & Ethics: Establish and promote responsible AI practices, including transparency, bias mitigation, and data privacy compliance
- Enablement & Adoption: Develop training, documentation, and change management strategies to accelerate AI literacy and usage across teams
- Measure Impact: Define KPIs and success metrics for AI initiatives, and report on adoption, ROI, and business outcomes
Requirements:
- Strong foundation of Workday experience with Extend apps, REST APIs and event-based integrations
- Workday functional: Understanding of HCM, Security, Business Process Framework (BPF), Reporting, configuration, tenant setup, and Workday governance
- Proven experience embedding AI agents onto enterprise platforms like Salesforce, ServiceNow, Microsoft, where agents take actions in workflows
- AI/Automation & Agent Model Skills: Understanding agent lifecycle, skill/tool models, workflow-to-agent mapping, data-driven automations, triggers, and execution modes. Ability to manage lifecycle actions such as Discover, Register, Configure, and Activate agents
- Comfort with tool-using/multi-agent patterns: agents calling APIs, following policies, and operating under enterprise security and audit
- API & Integration Skills: Experience with REST/SOAP APIs, authentication patterns, API gateway concepts, rate limits, telemetry, and integrating via Workday Public APIs, Graph API, RaaS, and ASOR endpoints
- Architecture & Design: Knowledge of enterprise architecture, system boundaries, secure/scalable agent design, and multi‑system agent interactions
- Vendor/3rd-Party Integration: Coordinating with external partners on APIs, skills/tools, authentication, compliance, and agent registration
