What you will be doing: Directly supervises the information systems technician. Coordinates the data processing functions and performs specialized duties related to information systems management, in compliance with government and management directives
Essential Functions:
- Plan, coordinate and manage the center’s information systems
- Provide staff training, evaluate staff performance and implement departmental changes as approved by the director, finance and administration and coordinated with the manager, human resources prior to implementation
- Assist the director, finance and administration in the preparation of departmental budget; monitor and control expenditures; review and recommend changes to budget authorizations
- Assist in the development and implementation of new and revised policies and procedures affecting information systems; coordinate with other departments to ensure overall compliance with center objectives
- Review and audit all assigned areas regularly for contractual compliance and effectiveness of delivery of services to students. Prepare related reports
- Inspect facility regularly and maintain quality standards. Maintain a safe and clean work area that models high standards for a work environment
- Monitor data communications network to ensure that network is available to all system users and resolve data communication problems
- Investigate and resolve computer software and hardware problems of users
- Regulate access to computer data files; monitor data file use and update computer security files
- Install, modify and make minor repairs to microcomputer hardware and software systems and provide technical assistance and training to system users
- Oversee the operations of the center's computer network systems
- Oversee the data processing functions of the center
- Perform tests on data equipment where error conditions occur to determine the source of malfunctions
- Coordinate technical matters and scheduling problems with the corporate information systems department
- Serve on the center’s point of contact (POC) for MTC and Job Corps Data Center. Ensure appropriate access, as approved by the center director, is provided to each user. On a timely basis, remove users as directed and in all cases of discontinued employment
- Install, modify and make minor repairs to microcomputer hardware and software systems
- Provide technical assistance and training to system users
- Provide orientation for new staff and students in automated systems
- Recommend hardware and software needs to center management
- Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers
- Participate in student employability programs and activities
- Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy
- Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions
- Maintain accountability of staff, students and property; adhere to safety practices.
It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and three years experience in management information systems operations, including Windows, office software applications, and PC hardware required
- Directly related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education requirements
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
