About this role
Martell Group is a company focused on building impactful brands and ventures, particularly in AI and B2B SaaS. The AI Engineer will play a crucial role in developing an AI-powered CFO platform, responsible for enhancing operational finance for founders through real-time data aggregation and intelligent bookkeeping.
Responsibilities:
- Design and Implement Scalable Services: Build robust backend logic for financial data processing using TypeScript and Node.js
- Integrate 3rd Party APIs: Deeply integrate with Stripe, Shopify, QuickBooks, Xero, and banking APIs to ensure seamless data flow
- Build AI Workflows: Implement agentic frameworks (Google Agent SDK, Vercel AI SDK) for automated bookkeeping and debt collection
- Optimize Financial Logic: Develop and refine algorithms for cash flow forecasting, margin analysis, and profitability mapping
- Full-Stack Ownership: Work across frontend and specialized backend microservices to ship user-facing features quickly
- Troubleshoot & Refactor: Pick up existing code, identify bottlenecks, and refactor for efficiency and abstraction
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience as a Full-stack or Backend-heavy Engineer
- You've built and worked on end-to-end saas, AI, fintech platforms covering all areas of the system
- AI-First Mindset: You live the 10/80/10 principle (10% paper/brainstorming, 80% AI generation, 10% human refinement)
- Problem Solver: You don't just write code; you solve hard problems with creative human input
- Fast Shipper: You thrive on seeing your code in production quickly and aren't precious about “perfection” over “progress.”
- Team Player: You understand the impact of others relying on you and value proactive communication/syncing

- Finance/Accounting Background: Prior experience with ERPs, bookkeeping systems, or fintech startups

- UI/UX Design: An eye for clean, functional design for financial dashboards
