Head of Engineering

Avenue 45 is seeking an experienced engineering leader to oversee the development and delivery of complex products that combine hardware and software. This role is responsible for leading multidisciplinary teams, driving technical strategy, and ensuring high-quality execution in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the engineering organization across hardware, software, and systems teams
• Translate business and product goals into clear technical plans and roadmaps
• Oversee product development from concept through launch, ensuring quality and reliability
• Partner with cross-functional teams including Product, Operations, and Quality
• Establish engineering processes, standards, and best practices
• Drive program execution, manage risks, and ensure timely delivery
• Build and develop a high-performing engineering team
• Support system architecture and key technical decision-making

Requirements:

• 10+ years of engineering experience with leadership responsibilities
• Experience delivering complex hardware/software products
• Hands-on experience with instrument-based systems, including robotics or electro-mechanical platforms
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
• Experience working in regulated or high-quality environments preferred
• Experience scaling teams or working in high-growth environments
• Familiarity with modern development practices and quality systems
