Hitachi Energy is focused on advanced power grid technologies, and they are seeking a Field Service Control System Engineer to support installation, commissioning, and service within their Grid Integration Service organization. The role involves hands-on technical support, fault tracing, and collaboration with various teams to ensure effective service delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Support commissioning, service, and maintenance of power system control platforms including HMI, MicroSCADA, and PLC‑based solutions
- Perform fault tracing, correction, implementation, and verification of control system components
- Serve as primary field and phone support for service teams and customers on control system matters
- Assist with control system design, implementation, and testing activities across projects
- Collaborate with engineering teams, project managers, suppliers, and customers to meet service requirements
- Deliver control system training to internal teams and customers
- Participate in process improvement initiatives focused on service and control system effectiveness
- Support tendering activities with control system insights
- Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines
Requirements:
- Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States
- Bachelor's degree in engineering with specialization in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Automatic Control Theory, Software Engineering, or a comparable field, or a combination of education and experience in controls or process automation
- Experience working with computer‑based control systems
- Knowledge of substation products, equipment, and engineering practices
- Knowledge of electrical standards and regulations (ANSI, CSA, IEC, and others)
- Ability to work autonomously in time‑critical and high‑pressure service environments
- Availability to travel up to 60%, including extended travel within North America and internationally
