We are seeking a highly skilled and board-certified Pathologist to join our dynamic pathology team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate and timely diagnosis of diseases through the examination of tissues, cells, and bodily fluids. This role plays a critical part in patient care by providing essential diagnostic information to guide treatment decisions for clinicians and surgeons.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform gross and microscopic examination of surgical specimens, biopsies, and cytology samples
- Provide accurate and timely pathology reports, including diagnosis, prognosis indicators, and recommendations when appropriate
- Participate in intraoperative consultations (frozen sections) and provide rapid diagnostic support during surgery
- Conduct and interpret autopsies when required
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, and other clinicians in multidisciplinary tumor boards and case conferences
- Oversee and ensure quality control/quality assurance in the anatomic and/or clinical pathology laboratory
- Supervise and mentor pathology residents, fellows, and laboratory staff as applicable
- Stay current with advancements in pathology, molecular diagnostics, and digital pathology
- Participate in laboratory accreditation and compliance activities (CAP, CLIA, Joint Commission, etc.)
- Utilize laboratory information systems (LIS) and digital pathology platforms effectively
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school
- Licensure: Current, unrestricted medical license in [State]
- Certification: Board Certification in Anatomic Pathology and/or Clinical Pathology (AP/CP) by the American Board of Pathology (or equivalent)
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2–5 years of post-residency experience preferred
- Fellowship training in a subspecialty (e.g., Surgical Pathology, Hematopathology, Dermatopathology, Cytopathology, Molecular Pathology, Neuropathology) is highly desirable
- Strong diagnostic skills with attention to detail and sound clinical judgment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
