Centene Corporation is a diversified national organization focused on improving health outcomes through technology. The Director of Application Development Engineering will lead multiple teams in designing, developing, and implementing complex enterprise software solutions, while providing technical guidance and managing a large portfolio of projects.
Responsibilities:
- Leads and directs multiple teams consisting of Senior Application Development Engineers responsible with large-scale complex Application Development projects / programs for Member/Provider Portals and Data Integrations
- Provides technical guidance to engineering teams and implements best practice development methods
- Participates in technical architecture meetings with the team and providers feedback to the team
- Manages a large portfolio of new development, enhancements, maintenance projects to successful completion navigating quality, schedule, competing priorities and cost management challenges
- Supports established organizational objectives by developing goals and strategies for the engineering teams
- Defines processes to identify and evaluate risks and participates in mitigation and control activities
- Maintains good relationships with Application and Infrastructure Management operational groups
- Partners with Security and SRE teams, makes sure all security and change management policies are followed
- Leads the design and development of proof of concept and prototype application environments
- Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintains a safe and secure work environment; develops personal growth opportunities for the team members
- Establishes operational objectives and delegates tasks to team Developers to help ensure the stable operation of application development activities
- Provides expert knowledge to develop staff capabilities to strengthen understanding of application development industry, business issues and best practices; evaluate implications to IT
- Develops and communicates departmental objectives; inspire and motivate team members to achieve results
- Holds teams accountable to meet functional, quality, and time line objectives
- Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- 7+ years of related experience
- Prior management experience
- Technical guidance to engineering teams
