Engineering Manager, Product Platforms

Boulevard is a client experience platform for appointment-based self-care businesses, aiming to empower customers to enhance client experiences. As an Engineering Manager on the Product Platforms team, you will lead the development of core systems related to payments, commerce, scheduling, and integrations, focusing on backend and systems-heavy solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop a team of 5–8 engineers focused on platform and backend systems
• Own systems that power key domains like transactions, catalogs, entitlements, and integrations
• Partner with Product on complex domain modeling and system design
• Drive architectural decisions with a focus on scalability, reliability, and maintainability
• Improve API design, system boundaries, and service ownership
• Coach engineers on navigating technical ambiguity and trade-offs
• Ensure operational excellence for critical platform services

Requirements:

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years managing engineers
• Strong background in building and scaling backend or platform systems
• Experience designing APIs and working across distributed systems
• Ability to think in terms of systems, abstractions, and long-term architecture
• Experience leading teams through complex technical problem spaces
• Experience in FinTech, commerce, or platform ecosystems
• Background with event-driven systems or service-oriented architectures
• Experience with Elixir, React, or similar technologies
• MBA or advanced degree in a related field
