Federato is on a mission to defend the right to efficient, equitable insurance for all. The Forward Deployed Engineer II will be heavily hands-on with coding and responsible for leading customer implementations, collaborating across teams, and driving internal process improvements.
Responsibilities:
- This role will be heavily hands-on with coding, including writing and debugging production and integration code in languages such as Python, JavaScript, and SQL as part of customer implementations and internal tooling
- Lead execution and delivery of complex customer implementations
- Estimate timelines, identify implementation risks, and adjust plans as needed
- Implement real-world scenarios — including custom configurations and integrations — adapting the product to fit client systems and workflows
- Own regular segments of customer-facing calls, UAT (user acceptance testing) feedback, and guiding customers through issue resolution or configuration adjustments
- Collaborate across functions (Product, Engineering, Customer Success) to coordinate dependencies and communicate impacts of potential changes or customizations
- Drive internal process improvements and automation to reduce manual efforts and improve delivery efficiency
- Create and maintain robust documentation (runbooks, best practices, delivery playbooks) and share learnings with junior FDEs
Requirements:
- B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience
- 3-5+ years of software engineering, systems engineering, or technical product/program management experience
- Strong programming or configuration skills (e.g., JavaScript, SQL) and demonstrated ability to navigate multiple product domains
- Comfortable interacting with customers, handling technical discovery, and translating business needs into scoped deliverables
- Proven ability to coordinate across teams, anticipate dependencies or blockers, and escalate risks appropriately
- Mentor or coach more junior team members; contribute to process improvements and internal knowledge sharing
