About the roleOur federal integrator partner is seeking a
PeopleSoft Payroll Operations Lead to support an active government contract. This role is hands-on and execution-oriented, responsible for supervising and performing
end-to-end payroll operations across a complex, multi-state public-sector environment. The Payroll Operations Lead will serve as a
payroll and system subject-matter expert, ensuring accurate processing, compliance, and operational efficiency within PeopleSoft and integrated payroll platforms.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and execute end-to-end payroll processing across government agencies, from time collection and validation through payroll calculation, auditing, reconciliation, and final processing
- Act as the functional PeopleSoft Payroll SME, supporting day-to-day payroll operations within PeopleSoft environments
- Manage payroll processing in multi-state, high-volume payroll environments, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Oversee payroll tax processes, including calculations, reporting, corrections, and issue resolution
- Perform payroll audits, variance analysis, and reconciliations to ensure data accuracy and control compliance
- Troubleshoot payroll issues across integrated systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, ADP, UKG), partnering with IT and HRIS teams to resolve defects and data discrepancies
- Support payroll system configuration, enhancements, testing, and production support activities
- Develop and maintain payroll documentation, processing schedules, controls, and standard operating procedures
- Collaborate closely with HR, finance, and timekeeping teams to ensure accurate upstream data and timely payroll execution
- Support knowledge transfer and process standardization across payroll operations teams
Required Qualifications- Strong payroll operations experience supporting mid-to-large organizations, ideally within public-sector or regulated environments
- Demonstrated hands-on experience executing payroll across the full payroll lifecycle
- Deep experience with PeopleSoft Payroll (v7.5-v9.2 preferred)
- Working experience with integrated payroll and timekeeping systems such as ADP and UKG
- Solid understanding of payroll taxes, audits, reconciliations, and internal controls
- Experience serving as a payroll subject-matter expert supporting stakeholders and cross-functional teams
- Operational mindset with direct involvement in day-to-day payroll processing and issue resolution
Nice-to-Have Qualifications Experience supporting federal payroll operations, ideally with prior experience at a federal payroll provider.
Hands-on experience with
PeopleSoft Payroll Ability to work locally in the DMV area or Kansas City, with flexibility for occasional travel
