About the Role
The Shipping Manager oversees all delivery operations and personnel, ensuring timely, accurate, and damage-free delivery of materials to customers. This position is key to providing the exceptional service for which Talbert is known. You’ll manage daily dispatch, route coordination, personnel supervision, and safety compliance—and partner with sales and operations leadership to meet customer needs with care and efficiency.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, train, and support a team of CDL drivers
- Coordinate dispatch schedules and route planning for efficiency and timeliness
- Ensure orders are shipped complete, on time, and staged properly on-site
- Schedule timely pickups of returns from job sites
- Approve driver timecards, overtime, and PTO
- Maintain and report the monthly driver incentive program
- Promote safety by conducting monthly meetings and overseeing daily vehicle checks
- Collaborate with the Fleet & Equipment team for routine maintenance and any issues involving delivery trucks and forklifts
- Communicate with internal teams and customers to resolve issues and ensure satisfaction
- Partner with sales to deliver a first-class customer experience
What You Bring
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to prioritize tasks under pressure
- Previous experience in dispatch, delivery logistics, or warehouse management
- Solid understanding of DOT and OSHA safety standards
- Willingness to learn internal systems and product knowledge
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and lift up to 100 lbs
- Knowledge of building materials or construction products is a plus
