ZTR is a company dedicated to advancing environmental sustainability within the Rail Industry. They are seeking a Field Service Engineer to support major U.S. customers by providing hands-on troubleshooting, system commissioning, and technical training, while collaborating with internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Configure and support ZTR control systems using advanced PLC knowledge
- Perform on-site commissioning and investigative troubleshooting of ZTR equipment
- Provide technical training to customers on-site
- Collaborate with and support the sales team as required
- Participate in project coordination and project management activities as needed
- Travel domestically and internationally (approximately 15%–30%, including travel within the U.S.)
Requirements:
- Minimum 3-year diploma in Electronic Engineering Technology, or Professional Engineer, or Valid electrician license
- Strong ability to troubleshoot electrical control systems and locomotive electrical systems
- Advanced PLC programming and configuration skills
- Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus)
- Basic to intermediate understanding of Ethernet networking, including LANs, WANs, VPNs, and Wi-Fi
- Proficiency with standard computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently
- Strong judgment and decision-making skills, particularly in high-pressure situations
- Excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills
- Hands-on technical experience required
- Candidates with locomotive and/or freight railway experience will be given preference
