New Relic is a global team dedicated to shaping the future of observability. The Technical Marketing Manager will create technical artifacts and demo strategies to support global sales and marketing narratives, while collaborating closely with product management and marketing teams.
Responsibilities:
- Build & Instrument: Develop small-scale, bespoke applications (Python, Node, Go, etc.) to showcase specific New Relic features and OpenTelemetry integrations
- Scale through Automation: Contribute to our public GitHub repository, ensuring every project follows our "One-Line Install" standard using tools like Docker Compose, AWS CloudFormation, etc
- AI-Augmented Development: Proactively use AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code) to rapidly prototype application logic and simulate complex telemetry environments
- Technical Artifact Creation: Produce high-quality technical content, including videos, decks, ebooks, whitepapers, and demo scripts that enable our global sales force
- Cross-Functional Strategy: Work closely with product management and product marketing teams to align technical artifacts with product messaging, ensuring cohesive communication strategies
Requirements:
- Applied Observability Expertise: You have a deep understanding of observability principles (metrics, events, logs, and traces) and hands-on experience using platforms like New Relic, Datadog, or Dynatrace to troubleshoot complex distributed systems. You don't just know how to look at a dashboard; you know how the data gets there and how to instrument applications to surface the 'ground truth' of software performance
- The 'Vibe Coder' Skillset: You don't need to be a career Software Engineer, but you must be able to read, write, and debug code. You are comfortable using LLMs to bridge gaps in your knowledge
- Containerization Proficiency: Practical experience with Docker and Docker Compose is non-negotiable; our demos must be portable and easy for others to run
- Technical Storytelling: A proven ability to take a 'dry' technical feature and turn it into a compelling 'Aha!' moment for an audience of both practitioners and executives
- Self-Directed Problem Solving & Resourcefulness: You demonstrate a high degree of autonomy when facing the 'unknowns'. When documentation is thin or a technical hurdle arises, you don't wait for a solution to be handed to you; you proactively leverage internal networks, technical curiosity, and AI resources to troubleshoot, iterate, and unblock yourself to keep the project on track
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in a technical role (TMM, Solutions Architecture, or Developer Advocacy) with a track record of 'owning the outcome.'
- Active contributions to open-source projects or a personal GitHub portfolio
- Strong collaborative skills and a proactive attitude towards learning and executing new strategies
