The University of Utah is seeking a Business Data Analyst to support the Data & Software Solutions team in delivering actionable insights for the David Eccles School of Business. The role involves running reports, developing Tableau dashboards, and ensuring data accuracy through collaboration with campus partners.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the end-to-end accreditation and rankings process by collecting, analyzing, and validating large datasets from multiple departments to ensure timely and precise submissions for university ranking bodies
- Analyze, interpret, and validate data from multiple university systems using a range of analytical techniques
- Develop and maintain data visualizations and reports in Tableau and other tools to support decision-making
- Manage Tableau Server extracts and refresh schedules; troubleshoot connection or data-quality issues as needed
- Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and workflow efficiencies within the Data & Software Solutions team
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements, troubleshoot data issues, and implement effective solutions
- Contribute to data governance and quality initiatives by ensuring consistency across systems and reports
Requirements:
- Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience
- This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship now or in the future
- This role requires residency within the state of Utah
- Proficiency with spreadsheet and data analysis tools such as Excel or Google Sheets
- Experience building data visualizations and reports in platforms like Tableau, Power BI, or Amazon QuickSight
- Working knowledge of SQL for querying, joining, and validating data
- Understanding of ETL concepts and data preparation tools or workflows
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with close attention to detail
- Ability to communicate complex data concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Proven ability to take initiative as a self-starter and drive improvements in reporting, data quality, and automation
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
