POSITION SUMMARY
The Shipping & Receiving Lead is responsible for supporting the Shipping Supervisor and assisting with managing and coordinating all activities related to the Shipping & Receiving Department, as well as providing leadership and direction for shipping staff.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safe operation of forklift or other powered equipment in the loading, unloading, moving, stacking, and staging of product.
- Safe operation of box truck in the delivery of product to local customer.
- Ensures accuracy of orders and inventory by completing tally sheets and auditing procedures
- Inspect forklifts, trailers, commercial vehicles, and other equipment daily and report any maintenance issues to Shipping Supervisor.
- Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations.
- Effectively store product in appropriate locations.
- Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage by following audit procedures.
- Document and report any variances appropriately.
- Pull and prepare orders for shipment.
- Prepare & keep accurate paperwork to guarantee accurate inventory control.
- Lead and motivate team members in the assigned area to achieve department goals.
- Detects and reports defective materials, questionable conditions, or incorrect counts to the Shipping Supervisor.
- Train associates in proper procedures, packaging standards, inventory principles, etc.
- Ensure employees practice safe work habits and utilize appropriate and required PPE.
- Responsible for the 5S housekeeping system within assigned work areas – individually and within department.
- Works with other Team Leads and Supervisors to ensure on-time shipment of customer goods.
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and EDUCATION
- High School Diploma/GED and 3-5 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
- Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of shipping, receiving, and inventory controls
- Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- Must be able to utilize tape measure, decimal and fraction.
- Must be able to read and interpret drawings and follow routers (work instructions)
- Must be able to use basic handheld measuring tools.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and effectively problem solve
- Knowledge of the manufacturing process, as it relates to shipping, receiving, and inventory
- Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers at all levels of business
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; ability to sit/stand/walk throughout the shift as required
- Ability to work in standing position throughout shift, with frequent walking.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work involves lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds.
- Work involves standing, walking, and lifting during shift schedule.
- Exposed to any number of elements but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable or hazardous.
- Noise level is normal for a manufacturing environment.
