GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Performs routine (journey-level) data analysis and data research work. Work involves conducting detailed analysis of and extensive research on data, providing results, and monitoring and implementing data quality. Develop and implement customer-centric metrics and reporting. Support performance, quality, and improvement efforts to help streamline processes through data analysis, data governance, and visualization. Manage the analysis of data and embrace evaluative thinking that includes posing thoughtful questions about data, getting feedback from key stakeholders, and using data to support staff, programs, and operations. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist with coordinating the planning, design, development, implementation, support, and maintenance of agency dashboards, primarily utilizing Tableau.
2. Support dashboard development projects to completion and document the process related to the dashboard implemented.
3. Assist in defining, developing and implementing data standards for the agency.
4. Capture, develop, and document data definitions, business processes, and data quality requirements.
5. Act as a resource to interpret data, identify gaps, and make recommendations to improve processes.
6. Examine ways in which to incorporate and develop data-driven decision-making.
7. Maintain knowledge of current industry practices and toolsets used in data analytics, including machine learning and artificial intelligence.
8. Assist with developing and supporting a Tableau community through research, training opportunities, and mentorship.
9. Communicate effectively with business customers, both internal and external, to deliver dashboards in a timely manner.
10. Contribute to the Open Data Portal as required by statute and coordinate with divisions to post relevant data sets on their behalf.
11. Participate in the development of and implementation of processes and procedures, including but not limited to data governance for the Enterprise Data Office.
12. Participate in the development and execution of the Enterprise Data Strategic Plan.
13. Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours following agency leave and attendance policies.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS:
Education – High School Diploma/equivalent is required. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in Computer Science, Data Analysis, Data Science, Statistics or a related field preferred.
Experience – Minimum of two (2) years’ experience performing work with data visualization tools required. Experience manipulating large data sets through statistical software or other methods required. Strong functional expertise in developing front-end reporting solutions required.

Licensure and/or Certification – Tableau Desktop certification is preferred.
Critical Organizational Infrastructure requirements – This job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure; must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role. Additionally, and more specifically, must not be employed by nor have any connection or continuous connections to any governmental entity or political apparatus of a country listed in 15 C.F.R. §791.4.
Regulatory knowledge – Working knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly assimilate information related to TXDPS, State and Federal regulations, legislation, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Technology – Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), and appropriate levels of proficiency with utilized software and systems and be able to learn new software/systems.
• Considerable knowledge in Tableau Desktop and Tableau Prep.
• Considerable knowledge in Excel, including creating pivot tables, conditional formulas, and formatting, VLOOKUPS, etc.
• Considerable knowledge with SQL, Python, or a similar language.

Travel and/or Schedule – Availability for after-hour and weekend work is required.
