We deliver recovery focused care to people with serious mental illness or problematic behaviours who are connected to, or at risk of contact with, the justice system—across secure hospitals, prisons and community settings.
About the role
Reporting to the Health & Safety Lead, the Health and Safety Partner provides hands on, solution focused expertise to strengthen organisational capability in occupational health and safety within our Prison directorate.
This is a senior partner role with high professional autonomy, working closely with leaders and frontline teams of our Prison directorate:
• Embed safe systems of work
• Address complex physical and psychosocial risks
• Ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements in a practical, workable way
You’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering Forensicare’s Health, Safety strategy, operating across our custodial environments.
Key responsibilities
• Provide authoritative advice on OHS and psychosocial risk in highly regulated environments
• Lead responses to serious or systemic health and safety incidents
• Strengthen governance, assurance, reporting and executive oversight
• Partner with custodial operators and external stakeholders on investigations and controls
• Support readiness for regulators, audits and inspections
• Translate data, insights and evidence into practical, preventative solutions
• Contribute to enterprise wide frameworks, programs and continuous improvement initiatives
What you’ll bring
• Relevant tertiary qualification in OHS, health sciences, human factors or similar (or equivalent senior experience)
• Proven senior experience providing risk informed, evidence based safety advice
• Strong knowledge of OHS and psychosocial legislation and regulatory obligations
• Ability to influence leaders and work collaboratively with unions, HSRs and external bodies
• High professionalism, discretion and integrity
• Experience in healthcare, forensic mental health, justice or complex public sector environments (highly desirable)
