optim.Aero is seeking a highly skilled Unmanned Aerial Systems Control/Simulation Engineer to join their team. The role involves developing and implementing simulation models for various projects in the defense sector, ensuring adherence to Federal Aviation Regulations and high-quality outcomes that meet client specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Developing and implementing simulation models that support various projects, particularly in the defense sector
- Contributing to projects that involve aviate technologies and adhere to Federal Aviation Regulations
Requirements:
- US Citizen, and eligibility for U.S. security clearance
- Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering / Controls
- Fundamental knowledge and understanding of flight dynamics
- 2+ years of experience in the design and analysis of UAS controllers/autopilots
- 1.5+ yrs experience using Matlab and Simulink (Project teams count as experience)
- Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Proficient in English
- Strong working Python knowledge
- Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering with a focus in Guidance, Navigation, and Controls
- Knowledgeable in object-oriented coding, specifically C++
- Proficient with revision control tools (Git, Bitbucket)
- Dynamic system modeling of fixed-wing and rotorcraft UAS
- Guidance algorithm synthesis, implementation, and analysis
