Route is a company focused on enhancing the post-purchase experience for consumers and connecting the world’s commerce. They are seeking an AI Automation Engineer to design and build AI-powered workflows that improve efficiency across the organization by automating complex processes.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and deploy AI-powered workflows and agentic systems that automate complex, multi-step internal processes
- Identify high-impact opportunities for automation by partnering cross-functionally with teams across the organization
- Develop scripts, integrations, and system-to-system connections that enable seamless data flow and task execution
- Leverage LLMs and emerging AI tooling to create intelligent, scalable solutions that reduce manual work and increase efficiency
- Own projects end-to-end from discovery and design through implementation, testing, and iteration
- Deliver high-quality, production-ready code with the same rigor and standards as the broader engineering team
- Collaborate with Product, Data, and Engineering partners to prioritize, build, and continuously improve solutions
- Contribute to a culture of innovation, transparency, and direct feedback while exploring new ways AI can transform how we work
Requirements:
- Hands-on experience working with LLMs and AI tooling to build workflows, automations, or intelligent systems
- Experience developing agentic or multi-agent systems, including orchestrating tools, APIs, and decision logic
- Proven ability to identify inefficiencies and translate them into automated, scalable AI-driven solutions
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with a strong foundation in computer science fundamentals
- Proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages (e.g., Python, Go, Java, JavaScript)
- Experience designing, building, and deploying scalable, production-grade systems and services
- Strong experience with APIs, system integrations, and data flow across distributed systems (e.g., REST, event-driven architectures)
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and building highly available, reliable systems
- Comfortable working cross-functionally and partnering with non-technical stakeholders to understand problems and deliver impact
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
