Parsons Corporation is seeking a Cloud Solutions Engineer to work on cloud data solutions for a DoD CBRN threat characterization system. The role involves architecting, implementing, and maintaining secure cloud data solutions, collaborating with various teams, and ensuring compliance with DoD standards.
Responsibilities:
- Architect, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and centralized cloud data solutions using AWS (or Azure) for a DoD CBRN threat characterization system
- Design and deploy cloud-native infrastructure and services, including but not limited to AWS GuardDuty, Web Application Firewall (WAF), Certificate Manager, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Fargate, VPC, DynamoDB, EC2, RDS for PostgreSQL, and S3
- Develop and manage cloud data architectures to support advanced AI/ML data pipelines and analytics
- Implement and automate CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployments, ensuring compliance with DoD DevSecOps and cybersecurity standards
- Integrate cloud solutions with data governance, metadata management, and access control tools, supporting FAIR data principles and NIST SP 800-171
- Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and security teams to ensure robust, compliant, and high-performing cloud environments
- Support containerization and orchestration (e.g., Fargate, ECS, EKS), including container hardening per DISA STIGs
- Monitor, log, and audit cloud environments using AWS-native tools to ensure security, compliance, and operational excellence
- Troubleshoot and resolve cloud infrastructure issues, optimize performance, and support system integration with external DoD systems
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and technical reviews; contribute to technical documentation and knowledge transfer
Requirements:
- Must have an active Secret Clearance or higher
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience designing, deploying, and managing cloud solutions on AWS (or Azure)
- Hands-on experience with the following AWS and/or Azure services. AWS: GuardDuty, WAF, Certificate Manager, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Fargate, VPC, DynamoDB, EC2, RDS for PostgreSQL, S3. Azure: Defender for Cloud, WAF, Key Vault / App Service Certificates, Monitor, Activity Log, ACI, AKS, VNet, Cosmos DB, VMs, Database for PostgreSQL, Blob Storage
- Strong understanding of cloud security best practices, including IAM, encryption (at-rest/in-transit), network segmentation, and compliance frameworks (NIST SP 800-171, DoD RMF)
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform, AWS CDK)
- Proficiency with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Fargate, ECS, or EKS)
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and incident response in cloud environments
- Familiarity with data architecture concepts
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional (preferred) or Associate; equivalent Azure certification (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert) acceptable
- Experience supporting DoD or other federal government cloud environments
- Familiarity with DoD DevSecOps, DISA STIGs, and container hardening best practices
- Experience with data governance, data cataloging, and FAIR data principles
- Knowledge of AI/ML data pipelines and integration with cloud-native services
- Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid cloud architectures
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
- Experience integrating cloud solutions with external APIs and legacy systems
- Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc.)
- Experience supporting classified environments (up to Secret or higher)
