Engineering Design Manager (Remote)

Johnson Controls is a leading company specializing in technology and engineering solutions. They are seeking an Engineering Design Manager to oversee technical projects, manage resources, and ensure alignment with business objectives while collaborating with various teams.

Responsibilities:

• Planning, monitoring and managing technical projects from initiation to completion
• Developing and maintaining project plans, schedules, and resource allocation
• Collaborating with engineering, product, and stakeholder teams to define project scope, goals, and deliverables
• Implementing and enforcing Agile methodologies for efficient workflow
• Fostering collaboration, communication, and problem-solving among team members and stakeholders
• Analyzing project demands, resource availability and constraints to develop effective resource allocation plans
• Optimizing resource utilization by identifying and resolving conflicts, bottlenecks or imbalances in resource allocation
• Conducting regular assessments of resource performance, productivity and capacity to identify areas for improvement
• Providing guidance and support to project teams in resource-related matters, including staffing, skill requirements and resource acquisition
• Define and document project scope, objectives, and success criteria
• Collaborate with leadership and stakeholders to identify resource requirements for ongoing and upcoming projects
• Conduct resource capacity planning to assess and manage resource demands based on project priorities and objectives
• Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies
• Track and report project progress, milestones, and key performance indicators (KPIs)
• Communicate project updates and potential blockers to leadership and stakeholders
• Collaborate with Design Leads to follow best practices, standards, and design guidelines
• Utilize Agile methodologies for efficient project execution
• Track and optimize project timelines and resource utilization
• Support post-implementation reviews and continuous improvement initiatives

• Technical/Associate Degree with 5-10 years experience in a related field
• 5+ years of experience in technical project management, resource management, project delivery, and/or technical leadership
• Proficient knowledge of 3D design software (CREO) and general knowledge of 3D Design Intent Concepts
• Experience with Agile methodologies and project management tools
• Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and stakeholder communication skills
• Experience with risk management, technical leadership, and quality assurance
• High adaptability with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to assess resource demands and optimize resource allocation
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
