The Cloud Support Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and availability of cloud-hosted applications and data platforms while collaborating with engineering and infrastructure teams.
Responsibilities:
- Provide Level 2 / Level 3 support for applications and infrastructure hosted on AWS and Azure
- Monitor cloud environments for availability, performance, cost, and security
- Support and troubleshoot services such as: AWS: EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, CloudWatch
- Azure: Virtual Machines, App Services, Azure SQL, Storage Accounts, Monitor
- Assist with cloud resource provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management
- Participate in incident management, on-call rotations, and post-incident reviews (RCA)
- Troubleshoot complex cloud infrastructure issues, including networking, IAM, and service-to-service communication
- Support containerized platforms with a focus on operational stability, incident response, and deployment validation (EKS experience preferred)
- Monitor application and database health using logging and monitoring tools
- Analyze trends and proactively address performance and stability risks
- Document support procedures, runbooks, and known issues
- Support release deployments and environment changes
- Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and operational standards
- Act as an escalation point where application issues intersect with cloud infrastructure, including environment configuration, access, and networking dependencies
- Read and modify existing Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) to support operational changes and troubleshooting
- Validate infrastructure changes in non-production cloud environments
- Partner with platform, networking, and security teams on cloud configuration and operational readiness
- Develop, optimize, and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions
- Support production databases, including: Data validation, data fixes, and issue resolution
- Backup, restore, and recovery support
- Collaborate with application teams to troubleshoot data-related issues
- Work closely with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams
- Identify opportunities for automation and operational efficiency
- Contribute to improving system resilience, scalability, and supportability
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in application or cloud support roles
- Hands-on experience supporting AWS (required) and Azure (preferred) cloud platforms
- SQL development experience (T-SQL or equivalent)
- Experience supporting production systems in enterprise environments
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
- Familiarity with ITIL processes (incident, problem, change management)
- Ability to work in on-call and support rotations
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams
- Experience reading and modifying existing Terraform code for cloud infrastructure
- Practical understanding of cloud networking concepts (VPCs, subnets, routing, load balancers, firewalls/security groups)
- Working knowledge of AWS IAM roles and policies and common permission failure scenarios
- Exposure to containerized workloads, preferably Amazon EKS, in an operational or support context
- Experience with healthcare, regulated, or high-availability environments
- Exposure to DevOps tools and practices (CI/CD, infrastructure as code)
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools (CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Splunk, etc.)
- Knowledge of scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash)
- Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure) are a plus
- Infrastructure as Code experience focused on maintenance, updates, and troubleshooting rather than greenfield environment creation
