We are looking for a Technical Writer. This is a 12+ (twelve) month s contract position with our client. You can work remote anywhere in North Carolina, Texas, Arizona, Georgia, Michigan for this position. In this role as a Technical Writer you will Create, develop, plan, write and edit operational, instructional, maintenance, test or user manuals for paper, multimedia or web-based publications. As a Technical Writer you should have excellent writing skills and verbal communication skills, experience with on premise and cloud-based software either as a writer or in another capacity.
Responsibilities for a Technical Writer:
- Work closely with PM, development, QA, and other technical writers to successfully deliver assigned documentation projects
- Review product changes to determine scope of edits for assigned areas of documentation
- Write new documentation based on use cases, user stories, feature requirement documents, specifications, information from developers and product managers, and use of the product
- Revise documentation to incorporate product updates and product enhancements requested by customers and internal users
- Proofread and edit documentation to ensure consistency of language and style, as well as correct application of templates
- Produce screenshots, flowcharts, and other graphics
- Attend and participate in writing and scrum team meetings
Required Skills as a Technical Writer:
- 5+ years of working experience as a Technical Writer
- Attention to detail; proficient English skills; and ability to proofread and edit content.
- Interest in learning, using, and writing about communications applications, software, and technology
- Interest in writing administrator and consulting documentation desirable
- Self-starter: motivated and able to take the initiative.
- Proven, advanced skills in English grammar, technical editing and user-focused technical writing
- Degree in English, Journalism, or a related field preferred
- Experience as a technical writer, working with authoring tools
- Ability to follow style and usage guidelines
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly
- Strong team player with outstanding communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Strong customer advocate mentality
- Comfort with agile, swiftly changing, dynamic software development situations
- Good planning, time management, and prioritization skills; ability to meet deadlines
- Experience with the Windows operating system environment and Microsoft Office software. Experience or an interest in learning current word processing, desktop publishing, and graphics software
- Bachelor s degree preferred. Software experience in a position other than Technical Writer also applicable
