Responsibilities:
- Create insightful, actionable research for General Counsel, providing best practices and advice on board governance, risk management, and leading the legal function of the future—including key executive skills, risk management skills, and an understanding of how the board will need to evolve to meet changing shareholder demands
- Stay ahead of the curve on emerging developments and issues (e.g., M&A trends, regulatory changes) by understanding the broader market and ecosystem related to the legal function and GC success, partnering with internal experts, and learning from client best practices
- Maintain Gartner’s industry leadership reputation by thoughtfully responding to press inquiries and representing Gartner at industry events
- Provide sales support, serving as the voice of market and domain expert, assisting Gartner’s commercial team paint a vision of service for prospective Gartner clients
- Support other Gartner analysts in the creation of content to drive engagement with clients, helping them to make progress against their critical priorities
- Provide high-quality and timely peer review on peers’ research content. Have credibility as an industry expert to represent Gartner insights, methodology and strategy
- Be client-centric, actively seeking to help clients engage regularly and often with Gartner insights and interactions
- Create and deliver high-value presentation materials (either in-person or virtual) for Gartner events, industry and professional association conferences, webinars, and client briefings
Requirements:
- J.D. with 12 years of experience working as a lawyer in house
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- Demonstrated experience presenting to the board, leading and/or coordinating risk management efforts, developing function strategy, and building talent and relationships across the organization
- Knowledge of and experience working as a GC or in a similar role (AGC/DGC)
- Experience and interest in advising, presenting to, and writing for the most senior levels of an organization (e.g., CEO, GC, Board of Directors, Chief Audit Executives, Head of Risk/ERM, Chief Compliance & Ethics Officer)
- Demonstrate executive presence; with the ability to establish credibility with executives and additional stakeholders
- High learning agility and comfort navigating highly matrixed, fast-changing environments
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to various audiences and influence at all levels
