The Business Systems Analyst Leader manages a team of analysts, oversees business system development and improvements, coordinates with other teams, and ensures project milestones are met. This role requires strong analytical skills and hands-on experience in applications design and implementation.
Responsibilities:
- Manages a team of analysts responsible for the analysis of new business system development and existing system improvement
- Allocates analysis team resources and monitors deliverables to ensure client needs are met successfully and in a timely fashion
- Builds test plans and data
- Coordinates with other teams to identify and implement new systems to support business function at effective cost
- Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs
- Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets
- Has full authority for personnel actions
- Extensive knowledge of department processes
- Designing, implementing and supporting business intelligence solutions
- Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems and user needs
- Documents requirements, defines scope and objectives, and formulates systems to parallel overall business strategies
- Detect, and report system errors and discrepancies, analyze and develop specifications for the correction of errors
- Assist in maintaining interfaces between commercial system vendors
- Performs functionality and system testing to simulate end user experience
- Perform exploratory testing and analysis for quality assurance before an application is released, to determine if the programming fulfills the requirements listed in the specifications of the new product
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in area of specialty
- 6+ years of experience in the field or in a related area
- 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor
- 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required
- Excellent knowledge of business processes and methodologies
- Strong analytical and data modeling background
- Direct hands-on experience in applications design, configuration and implementation
- Familiar with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the insurance field
- Familiar with relational database concepts, and client-server concepts
- Ability to manage functional and operational requirements of all application systems
- Ability to develop and institutionalize procedures to ensure flawless execution of application requirements
- Ability to coordinate subject matter experts across product and operations in utilizing various application systems
- Ability to review, analyze, and evaluate business systems and user needs
- Ability to document requirements, define scope and objectives, and formulate systems to parallel overall business strategies
- Ability to detect, and report system errors and discrepancies
- Ability to analyze and develop specifications for the correction of errors
