EVS, Inc. is a pioneering company in renewable energy with over forty-five years of experience. They are seeking a Substation Protection & Controls Engineer to take technical ownership of complex substation design initiatives while mentoring others and shaping the future of the P&C engineering group.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and documentation of protection and controls systems for high-voltage substations
- Develop and review project deliverables, including one-lines, three-lines, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, client standards, and utility requirements
- Coordinate with civil, structural, and studies teams to deliver integrated substation solutions
- Participate in client meetings to present technical designs and support project discussions
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering technical excellence and consistency across projects
- Drive department efficiency and quality through process improvement and tool development
- Manage budgets, timelines, and deliverables to ensure projects are completed successfully
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Extensive experience in substation protection and controls design for transmission and distribution systems
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and related design software; familiarity with relay setting tools a plus
- Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), NESC, IEEE, and utility standards
- Experience developing protection schemes, relay logic, and communication systems for substations
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and lead cross-functional engineering teams
- Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration
