Lockheed Martin is a leader in aerospace and defense, and they are seeking a Component Engineer Sr. to join their Hardware Engineering team. The role focuses on managing the lifecycle of critical components for defense systems, including selection, qualification, and obsolescence management.
Responsibilities:
- Planning, directing, and reviewing project documentation to satisfy contract and company requirements
- Creating and maintaining EEE Component Source Control Drawings (SCDs), evaluating vendors, and analyzing component test reports
- Leading part standardization initiatives, part selection, and issuing process change notices
- Developing qualification test plans and executing part qualifications with classified and commercial test houses
- Conducting component failure investigations, qualifying alternate test houses, and implementing finish mitigation actions
- Designing component screening programs and presenting part change impacts to customers
- Managing subcontractor provided EEE components, generating and approving NSPARs at PMPCB meetings
- Researching product change notices (PCNs) and obsolescence trends, assessing program impact, and recommending mitigation strategies
- Driving issue resolution through the Program Management Process (PMP) and leading failure analysis activities within the EEE domain
- Coordinating travel to customer and supplier sites to ensure hands on verification and relationship building
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related STEM field from an accredited university
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in Component Engineering or component-related experience such as circuit card manufacturing, SMT process, thermal profiling of critical components, troubleshooting, cable assembly, and understanding of component commodity and package types including moisture-sensitive parts
- Proficient with component engineering obsolescence tools (Silicon Expert, IHS BOM Intelligence)
- Proficient with product lifecycle tools such as Windchill PLM
- MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a secret clearance
- Previous LM MFC experience
- Knowledge of high-reliability military component standards and specifications (e.g., MIL-STD-883, MIL-STD-38534, MIL-PRF-55342, MIL-PRF-55681)
- Experience in electrical component manufacturing process and physical property analysis
- Electrical or Electronic Engineering experience (such as components or digital/analog design)
- Material Science Engineer degree with electrical component experience, or an Electrical Engineer degree with component engineering experience
- Experience with missile platforms
- Knowledge of Parts Management Plan
- Knowledge of Military & Automotive Electronics Standards
