The Senior Project Manager will lead the pre-construction phase of complex construction projects, overseeing project planning, estimation, and client engagement.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the strategic planning process for pre-construction activities, collaborating with senior management to define project objectives, scope, and deliverables
- Develop comprehensive project plans, budgets, and timelines, ensuring alignment with client expectations, company goals, and industry best practices
- Identify and assess project risks, challenges, and opportunities, developing mitigation strategies and contingency plans as needed
- Oversee the estimating process, including quantity take-offs, material pricing, labor costs, and subcontractor quotes, to prepare accurate cost estimates for steel fabrication and erection services
- Conduct detailed cost analysis and value engineering assessments to optimize project budgets, minimize costs, and enhance project profitability
- Review and approve bid proposals, ensuring compliance with project specifications, contractual requirements, and company standards
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders throughout the pre-construction phase
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing expert guidance, insights, and recommendations to support informed decision-making and project success
- Anticipate client needs and proactively address concerns or issues to ensure a positive client experience and foster long-term partnerships
- Provide leadership and mentorship to pre-construction teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Recruit, train, and develop top talent, ensuring that team members have the skills, knowledge, and resources needed to succeed in their roles
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback and coaching, and recognize achievements to promote employee engagement and retention
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on steel fabrication and erection methods, materials, and industry best practices to support project planning and execution
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and blueprints to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements
- Prepare and review technical documentation, including project specifications, proposals, and construction documents, to ensure alignment with project objectives and standards
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in pre-construction management, estimating, or project management, with a proven track record of successfully leading large-scale construction projects
- Expertise in structural steel fabrication and erection practices, with a strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and methods
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a track record of effectively leading cross-functional teams and delivering results in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate issues, identify solutions, and make informed decisions
- Proficiency in construction estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
