Network / Systems Engineer

Primary Responsibilities

  - Cisco and Fortinet firewall fleet management across 7+ PBCHA sites: configuration, rule administration,

  firmware updates, log forwarding to Sophos MDR

  - Network device administration: switches, routers, wireless access points across all sites

  - Windows endpoint and server patching cycles (monthly Patch Tuesday + emergency out-of-band cadence as

  required)

  - Antivirus / endpoint security operations: Microsoft Defender for Business administration; coordination

  with Datasmith Sophos MDR for incident response and remediation

  - Server preventative maintenance and OS lifecycle execution (in coordination with the On-Site Systems

  Engineer who owns server admin strategy)

  - Backup operations: monitoring, validation, scheduled restore drills, retention policy enforcement

  - Network capacity monitoring and quarterly capacity reporting

  - Network-related Tier 2 / Tier 2b escalation from the help desk

  - Coordination with Datasmith on security alerts requiring network or firewall remediation (rule changes,

  blocking actions, segmentation adjustments)

  - Documentation maintenance for network configurations, firewall rule sets, patching reports, antivirus

  posture, and backup validation logs

  - Support of CCST''s monthly reporting deliverables to PBCHA leadership for network, security, and patching

   status

Required Qualifications

  - 4+ years of network / systems administration or MSP infrastructure experience in environments of

  comparable size and complexity (100+ endpoints, multi-site)

  - Hands-on firewall administration: Cisco ASA / Firepower OR Fortinet FortiGate (both preferred)

  - Hands-on Cisco network device experience (IOS, switches, routers)

  - Wireless access point administration (Cisco Meraki, Aruba, Ubiquiti, or comparable)

  - Windows Server and endpoint patching at scale (100+ endpoints)

  - Endpoint security / antivirus administration (Microsoft Defender, Sophos, CrowdStrike, or equivalent)

  - Backup software experience (Datto, Veeam, Acronis, or equivalent)

  - Multi-site network administration experience

  - Documentation discipline: ability to write and maintain configuration baselines, change logs, and

  runbooks

  - Customer-facing communication skills appropriate for a public-sector client environment

  - High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor''s degree preferred

Required Certifications (one or more)

  - Cisco CCNA (or higher: CCNP-Security, CCNP-Enterprise)

  - Fortinet NSE 4 or higher (if Fortinet-track candidate)

  - CompTIA Network+ (required if no Cisco / Fortinet certification)

  - CompTIA Security+ (preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

  - Sophos administrator certification or hands-on Sophos product experience (firewall, MDR, or endpoint)

  - Public Housing Authority (PHA), municipal government, or other public-sector network experience

  - Multi-site WAN / VPN configuration experience

  - Experience with HUD or other federal-compliance constraints

  - ITIL Foundation certification

  - Microsoft Defender for Business or Defender for Endpoint hands-on experience

  - Backup-and-recovery DR drill experience (designed, executed, and reported on)

  - Experience with Sophos firewall log integration via syslog or API
