Infinitive is a data and AI consultancy that enables its clients to modernize, monetize and operationalize their data to create lasting and substantial value. They are seeking a Senior Cloud/FinOps Engineer to bridge the gap between cloud engineering and financial accountability, focusing on cost-efficiency strategies and the integration of FinOps principles into cloud application lifecycles.
Responsibilities:
- Architecture & Design: Design and implement cloud application requirements that prioritize cost-efficiency without sacrificing performance or reliability
- Process Engineering: Develop and deploy automated operational processes for FinOps, including automated tagging enforcement, right-sizing workflows, and lifecycle management policies
- Implementation: Build and maintain cloud governance frameworks using Azure Policy, Blueprints, and Resource Graph to ensure fiscal guardrails are "baked-in" to the infrastructure
- Cost Optimization: Identify and execute complex optimization opportunities, including Reserved Instance (RI) / Savings Plan management, spot instance integration, and architectural refactoring for cost
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with DevOps and Finance teams to create granular cost-attribution models and provide actionable insights through advanced telemetry and reporting
- Tooling & Automation: Develop custom scripts (PowerShell/Python) and utilize Azure Cost Management + Billing to automate anomaly detection and alerting
Requirements:
- 6+ years in Cloud Engineering/Architecture with at least 2 years focused specifically on FinOps or Cloud Cost Optimization
- Mastery of the Azure ecosystem, including Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Azure Advisor, and Power BI for cost visualization
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates)
- Strong scripting abilities in PowerShell, Python, or Bash
- Experience with Kubernetes (AKS) cost management and container-level attribution
- Deep understanding of the FinOps Framework (Inform, Optimize, Operate). FinOps Certified Practitioner (FCP) or Professional status is a significant plus
- Ability to translate complex cloud billing data into business-relevant narratives for executive leadership
- Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure Administrator Associate
- Previous experience in a 'Chargeback' or 'Showback' environment
- A 'consultative' approach—ability to influence engineering teams to adopt cost-saving measures without direct authority
