Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry. They are seeking a Supplier Quality & Development Engineer who will be responsible for ensuring that suppliers consistently deliver products and processes that meet quality, technical, and regulatory requirements, while focusing on preventing escapes and driving zero-defect performance across the supply chain.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee suppliers' performance, primarily through on-site visits, the use of the OASIS certification program, and use of the Supplier portals/Sharepoint
- Work to make improvements and reduce the risk at high risk suppliers by issuing corrective action requests, performing on-site QMS/Product assessments or audits, data analysis, training and/or other continuous improvement activities
- Provide daily support for quality/product related issues
- Analyze and makes recommendations on quality data and the development of part / supplier specific quality issue resolution and corrective actions
- Provide research on and explanations of root cause analysis & problem solving (8D or similar) for supplier causal analysis. Assist in the development of corrective actions for systemic process and product design problems for product provided by suppliers
- Review products requirements and metrics and makes recommendations to ensure supplier is capable to meet all requirements for work transfer and process change management including Resourcing Gate and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) acceptance
- Manage supplier quality issues through monitoring / escalation processes, escape management
- Initiate part specific quality issue resolution and corrective actions
- Analyze quality data to identify systemic issues and develops supplier specific quality initiative strategies and addresses with key proactive quality tools (e.g. PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow and Control Plans, SPC, etc.), driving their implementation
- Travel domestically and internationally as needed (30%)
Requirements:
- Typically requires: A University Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Materials Engineering, Chemical, or related field and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
- 3 - 5 years of experience in supplier quality, process engineering, manufacturing engineering, or manufacturing operations
- Experience in reading technical drawings and specifications (GD&T)
- Working Experience of AS9100, AS9145, APQP, PPAP, and special processes
- Experience with root‑cause analysis, corrective actions, and quality tools
- Aerospace experience
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
- Experience with digital quality tools (NetInspect, RAM, EtQ)
- Strong data analysis skills (statistics, SPC)
- Experience with ERP system (i.e SAP )
- Certified Quality Engineer (ASQ)
