
Job Title: MBSE Systems Engineer

Description: Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, evaluates alternatives including cost and risk, supportability, and analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Background/Need: The Group develops space, airborne, and terrestrial prototypes with innovative solutions to challenging national security problems. Our teams handle most of the large prototype systems developed by the Laboratory, including space payloads and satellites for sensing and communication, and airborne and ground-based systems. Example projects include satellite sensors, space-based and ground-based laser communications systems, airborne laser radar, imaging systems on both manned and unmanned aircraft, and small satellites.

The selected candidate will work on a team performing systems engineering activities for a large program. Responsibilities include developing, flowing down and tracking requirements, architecting systems, developing an MBSE model of the systems and their interfaces, planning and leading verification and validation activities, and identifying risks and defining risk mitigation strategies.
