Zillow is a leading real estate platform in the U.S. seeking a Senior Manager of Software Development Engineering to lead frontend engineers on the Agentic Experience team. The role involves managing the UX of Zillow’s AI Mode across web and mobile platforms, fostering team growth, and collaborating with various teams to deliver integrated experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and grow a team of 6–10 frontend engineers spanning web, iOS, and Android, fostering a culture of craft, cross-platform collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Evolve and extend the UX for Zillow's AI Mode across platforms — owning sprint planning, roadmap execution, and cross-team coordination to continuously improve and expand one of Zillow's most high-visibility product experiences
- Develop and coach your engineers — providing consistent feedback, supporting career growth, and creating an environment where people do their best work and feel a clear path forward
- Partner across product, design, AI/ML, and peer engineering teams — aligning on requirements, establishing consistent UX principles across platforms, and driving integrated agentic experiences to production
Requirements:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, including meaningful hands-on work in frontend development for web (React, TypeScript, CSS) and/or mobile (iOS/Swift, Android/Kotlin, or cross-platform frameworks)
- 3+ years of experience managing software engineering teams, with a demonstrated track record of developing and retaining strong engineers
- Experience building or managing teams that work on AI-powered or agentic applications, including familiarity with multimodal input/output (text, voice, images) and streaming UX patterns
- Experience leading cross-platform frontend teams and navigating the trade-offs between platform-native and shared-component approaches
- A people-first leader with genuine technical credibility in frontend development — you've shipped rich user-facing experiences on web and/or mobile and use that experience to guide your team without micromanaging
- A champion for user experience quality — you hold a high bar for what great frontend work looks and feels like across web and mobile surfaces, and you bring the cross-platform perspective to keep those experiences consistent
- A coach and developer of talent who takes pride in seeing your engineers grow, receive promotions, and build rewarding careers
- A collaborative partner who builds trust across functions — product, design, AI/ML, and peer engineering teams — and drives outcomes through influence rather than authority
- A practitioner of AI-native development — you actively use AI coding tools and assistants yourself, and champion their adoption across your team as a genuine force multiplier throughout the software development lifecycle
