LMI is a digital solutions provider dedicated to accelerating government impact with innovation and speed. They are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to lead the design and implementation of system interfaces and detailed engineering specifications within the F-35 LogIT program, focusing on data ingestion, transformation, and integration activities.
Responsibilities:
- Translate enterprise architecture and Cameo model baselines into detailed systems engineering designs for interfaces, message flows, adapters, pipeline segments, validation services, and data routing logic
- Develop and maintain detailed Cameo SysML models that capture system interfaces, activity flows, message exchanges, traceability relationships, and allocation of functions across the integration fabric
- Define detailed technical designs for ingestion from structured, semi-structured, and unstructured sources, including OEM systems, APIs, file drops, message queues, databases, and transferred vendor systems
- Design data transformation logic for field-level enrichment, identifier crosswalks, unit normalization, DLMS and MILSTRIP translation, and conversion into modern schemas such as JSON and Parquet
- Produce detailed interface and integration designs for DAAS, ELMS/DPAS, DLA EBS/IDE, ILS-S, ESCAPE, Navy ERP, USTRANSCOM IGC, JPO systems, and Advana-aligned data pipelines
- Define system-level requirements and design patterns for transport, publish/subscribe messaging, point-to-point exchange, retries, buffering, quarantine logic, and ordered delivery where required by mission criticality
- Support detailed designs for metadata capture, schema validation, lineage, anomaly detection, and audit-grade provenance throughout the data lifecycle
- Engineer secure systems design patterns for data in transit and at rest, authentication, authorization, redaction, tagging, and Cross Domain Solution handling across classified and unclassified environments
- Work directly with development, data engineering, and platform teams to refine user stories, resolve design gaps, and ensure that implementation stays aligned with architecture and systems engineering intent
- Contribute to sprint reviews, integration planning, technical exchange meetings, and validation activities by explaining detailed technical behavior to both engineers and government stakeholders
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, software engineering, computer science, information systems, electrical engineering, or a related technical field
- 8 or more years of relevant experience in systems engineering, solution engineering, data integration engineering, or enterprise application engineering in federal, defense, ERP, or logistics environments
- Demonstrated experience with model-based systems engineering using Cameo Systems Modeler / MagicDraw and SysML to capture system behavior, interfaces, activities, allocations, and traceability
- Experience contributing to defense architecture artifacts such as OV-1, SV-1, and OV-5b or equivalent views, especially where those views must remain synchronized with implementation design
- Strong experience designing integration solutions across ERP, logistics, and data platforms, including APIs, EDI/DLMS, databases, event streams, file-based exchange, and hybrid cloud/on-prem connectivity
- Practical experience with interface and pipeline design using technologies such as Kafka, NiFi, Airflow, Python, Spark, SQL, REST, GraphQL, SOAP, JDBC/ODBC, MQ, and related integration mechanisms
- Strong understanding of Defense Logistics Management Standards, MILSTRIP/MILSTRAP-style transactions, field mapping, schema validation, and translation to modern data structures
- Understanding of government logistics and sustainment systems and the roles they play in requisitioning, asset visibility, cataloging, transportation, maintenance, repair, and financial accountability
- Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity and deployment considerations, including IL designations, PKI, CAC/PIV, STIGs, RMF, audit logging, and secure movement of data across boundaries
- Active SECRET clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one
- Experience with F-35 data, sustainment workflows, or aviation logistics integration environments
- Experience integrating or designing for systems such as DAAS, ELMS, DLA EBS/IDE, ILS-S, Navy ERP, ESCAPE, IGC, JPO systems, or Advana-aligned pipelines
- Familiarity with SAP-centric logistics and financial workflows in environments where ERP transactions must be reconciled with external logistics or sustainment events
- Experience with observability and telemetry patterns using Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, Splunk, or comparable stacks
- Experience operating in agile delivery organizations that use Jira, GitLab, and quarterly PI Planning
