RTX is a leading company focused on defense and aerospace solutions, and they are seeking a Commodity Supplier Assurance Engineer. This role involves serving as the primary liaison between RTX and its suppliers, ensuring high-quality outcomes and compliance with product requirements while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Drive Process Improvements: Implement strategies to enhance manufacturing processes at supplier facilities
- Foster Strong Relationships: Build and maintain effective partnerships with internal and external customers, key collaborators, and stakeholders
- Guide Decision-Making: Provide quality assurance expertise to influence decisions, ensuring alignment with customer priorities and mission success
- Communicate Technical Requirements: Interpret and convey purchase order technical and quality requirements to ensure compliance by suppliers
- Ensure Compliance with Product Requirements: Verify that product specifications are properly communicated and adhered to by suppliers and sub-tier suppliers
- Evaluate Supplier Performance: Conduct supplier assessments focused on quality, engineering, manufacturing capabilities, capacity, risk and opportunities
- Perform Technical Evaluations: Conduct in-depth technical evaluations to support cost and price analysis
- Manage Supplier Change Requests: Oversee supplier requests for product and process changes to ensure alignment with requirements
- Report Supplier Health: Communicate the technical health and performance of suppliers to stakeholders, providing clear updates and insights
- Resolve Supplier Risks: Identify and address supplier risks and systemic issues through detailed root-cause analysis and corrective actions
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Apply Six Sigma, lean methodologies, and other analytical tools to advance continuous improvement initiatives
- Oversee Quality Activities: Manage First Article Verification, Source Inspection, supplier assessments, audits, and reviews to ensure compliance
- Mitigate Risks and Support Program Objectives: Proactively resolve supplier risks and ensure alignment with broader program goals and objectives
Requirements:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in engineering, quality assurance, supplier management, or supplier auditing
- Relevant experience is working in engineering in any of the following disciplines: mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, and/or quality disciplines that include technical supplier management
- Experience assessing / auditing the technical capabilities / performance of suppliers to ensure compliance with requirements and standards
- Experience leading corrective action initiatives using Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) methodologies (e.g. 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, Fault Tree Analysis, 8D Problem Solving, or similar tools)
- Experience executing process improvements discovered during RCCA and presenting data to support decision-making activities (e.g. utilizing Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen, Value Stream Management, or other analytical tools)
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance is a mandatory requirement. U.S. citizenship is required, as it is a prerequisite for obtaining a security clearance
- Active U.S. government-issued Secret Security Clearance
- Certification in Six Sigma, Lean methodologies, and/or American Society for Quality (ASQ) programs such as CSSGB, CMQ/OE, CQE, CQPA, CQA, or CRE
- Experience working with aerospace and defense industry standards, including AS9100, AS9145, AS9102, and ISO-9000
- Experience in Department of Defense (DoD) product and process oversight, encompassing requirements definition, manufacturing, integration, testing, and final delivery
- Hands-on experience with industry technical standards, including but not limited to ANSI, ASE, ASME, ASTM, IEEE, and similar frameworks
- Experience with Guidance and Navigation Systems, including technologies such as Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs), accelerometers, gyroscopes, actuators, flight and navigation systems, GPS, and related components
- Technically proficient engineer with excellent communication abilities, a strong sense of professional presence, influential interpersonal skills, and a proven track record as a self-driven and effective technical contributor
- Proven experience working collaboratively with engineering, manufacturing operations, and supply chain teams to achieve program objectives and deliver results
