Tiger Data, formerly Timescale, is a company that provides the fastest PostgreSQL platform designed for various workloads. They are seeking a Business Development Representative (BDR) who will support the sales team by generating meetings and creating pipelines through various outreach methods, primarily focusing on cold calling and prospecting.
Responsibilities:
- Convert inbound leads and qualify 'in-market' opportunities
- Prospect into assigned target accounts and self-source new opportunities
- Cold call regularly and run multichannel outreach (calls, email, LinkedIn)
- Activity expectations minimum of 80-100+ calls a day, sourcing 60-75 new contacts per week
- Research accounts, identify the right buyers, and tailor messaging
- Build sequences that create urgency and drive replies
- Develop a clear account POV (why now, why Tiger Data, why it matters) and earn meetings
- Partner with AEs to align on account strategy, messaging, and next steps
- Maintain accurate activity and pipeline tracking in Salesforce and related tools
- Attend industry conferences and events as needed
Requirements:
- You are a self-motivated self-starter with a history of hitting ambitious targets
- You have grit and resilience: you stay consistent through rejection, learn fast, and keep iterating
- You are comfortable cold calling and using the phone as a primary channel
- You can confidently engage senior stakeholders and build trust quickly
- You thrive in a startup environment: you're comfortable with ambiguity, you move fast, and you turn loose direction into clear execution
- You have an entrepreneurial, builder mindset: you proactively improve plays, messaging, and process, and you seek and apply feedback quickly
- You bring strong time management and can balance multiple priorities and challenging targets
- You have 1+ years of experience in sales/business development, or finance, consulting, or a related analytical field
- 1+ years in a customer-facing role including cold calling (sales, SDR/BDR, recruiting, fundraising, or similar)
- Experience engaging technical audiences
- Familiarity with Salesforce, LinkedIn, Outreach, Apollo, Google Workspace
