Hitachi Energy is a leader in the power industry, and they are seeking a Field Service Engineer to support Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS). This role involves providing technical support at customer substations and power facilities, managing project execution phases, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support throughout all phases of GIS project execution, including installation, commissioning, testing, acceptance, and handover
- Provide on‑site supervision for the installation and commissioning of GIS substations
- Manage troubleshooting efforts involving field personnel and subcontractors
- Support and oversee contracted maintenance activities to ensure work is completed effectively
- Maintain detailed site documentation, including operational procedures, performance reports, test data, and equipment manuals
- Coordinate and communicate with internal teams, subcontractors, and customers to support smooth site execution
- Work closely with customers on‑site to support service outcomes and satisfaction
- Ensure proper use and care of tools, equipment, vehicles, materials, and supplies at job sites
- Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines
Requirements:
- Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States
- Minimum 2–4 years of relevant experience in engineering and/or construction environments, preferably within the power industry
- Sound understanding of electrical and mechanical equipment
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills for field and customer‑facing work
- Ability to manage teams and address on‑site conflict situations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Microsoft Project
- Fluent English language skills
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline preferred but not mandatory
- Additional European languages beneficial
