ClearSource is seeking a detail-oriented and driven individual to join their team as a Solar Quality Engineer. In this role, you will review electrical and mechanical system designs and installations to ensure compliance with various standards and perform quality audits on residential solar installations.
Responsibilities:
- Review electrical and mechanical system designs and installations to ensure compliance with NEC, local jurisdiction requirements, OEM requirements, and company QA/QC standards
- Assess technical documents and installation photos to ensure projects meet incentive program guidelines and compliance standards
- Perform routine and targeted quality audits on residential solar installations to verify compliance with design specifications, code compliance, and company standards
- Ensure timely review and completion of assigned project queues in alignment with established service level agreements (SLAs)
- Identify quality issues and collaborate with internal teams to resolve them effectively
- Conduct root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Support QA/QC Manager in achieving departmental goals, including SLA adherence, review process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain awareness of industry standards and best practices relevant to residential solar
Requirements:
- 1-2 years of experience in QA/QC, construction, or related technical roles; experience in solar is preferred (internships or field experience acceptable)
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, system designs, and performance data to identify potential issues
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across internal teams and external partners
- Detail-oriented and highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage priorities in a remote environment
- Familiarity with industry standards and codes such as UL, IBC, and NEC
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook)
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Construction Management, or related field OR equivalent hands-on experience; licensed electricians with solar experience will be considered
- A background or familiarity with PV (photovoltaics) projects is a plus
- Working knowledge of residential solar equipment, installation practices, and performance metrics
- Proficiency in Aurora and/or Solargraf design tool
- Experience working with financed solar assets or TPO portfolios
