Network Implementation Engineer
Location: Whippany, NJ (Hybrid 2 4 days onsite)
Duration: 6 Months Contract (Potential for Full-Time Conversion)
Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Network Implementation Engineer to support office and branch buildouts integrated with enterprise data center environments. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with network implementation, routing and switching, wireless, firewalls, VPNs, and data center technologies. This role focuses on end-to-end delivery, including low-level design, hardware procurement, configuration, deployment, cutovers, validation, and operational handoff.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop low-level network design documentation for new site deployments and expansions.
- Create Bill of Materials (BOM), size network hardware and circuits, and coordinate procurement activities.
- Lead onsite implementation activities including rack/stack, cabling, circuit turn-up, and coordination with facilities teams.
- Configure and deploy routing solutions using BGP and OSPF.
- Implement dual-ISP connectivity with failover and traffic engineering.
- Establish secure connectivity between branch offices and data centers.
- Configure and support Cisco Nexus switching environments, including vPC implementations.
- Deploy and integrate campaccess switching environments using Cisco Catalyst platforms.
- Configure and manage Cisco 9800 Wireless LAN Controllers, including FlexConnect and Local Mode deployments.
- Implement firewall policies and site-to-site IPsec VPNs.
- Support F5 Load Balancer migration and deployment activities.
- Configure and troubleshoot multicast environments and QoS for voice traffic.
- Execute network cutovers, perform validation testing, and provide operational handoff documentation.
- Create as-built diagrams, runbooks, and support documentation.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on network implementation experience.
- Strong expertise with:
- BGP
- OSPF
- Cisco Nexus
- vPC
- Cisco Catalyst Switching
- Site-to-Site IPsec VPN
- Firewall Policy Configuration
- Cisco 9800 Wireless Controllers
- FlexConnect & Local Mode Wireless Deployments
- Experience with dual ISP connectivity and WAN routing.
- Strong understanding of carrier circuits, circuit testing, and demarcation coordination.
- Experience performing network migrations, deployments, and cutovers.
- Excellent troubleshooting and documentation skills.
