Spear Education is a dental education company focused on enhancing the quality of clinical practices. They are seeking a Director of Product Marketing who will be responsible for positioning, launching, and promoting their products and services to dental professionals, while driving alignment across various teams and ensuring the voice of the customer is heard.
Responsibilities:
- Turn complex clinical education and services into clear, compelling, benefit-driven messaging
- Define positioning that differentiates us in a crowded and often commoditized education space
- Build messaging frameworks that get used (not sit in a deck somewhere)
- Drive launches for new programs, curriculum updates, and service offerings - even when inputs aren’t perfect
- Create alignment across Product, Marketing, Education, Customer Success and Sales teams (yes, this takes work)
- Build and manage go-to-market plans that are practical, not theoretical
- Develop a deep understanding of dentists and their teams - what they care about, what they struggle with, and what drives action
- Gather insights from faculty, customers, and internal teams and turn them into usable strategy
- Push the organization to stay grounded in real customer needs
- Partner closely with Sales and Customer Success to improve how we show up in conversations with customers
- Build tools and materials that help teams communicate value clearly and confidently
- Identify opportunities to improve conversion, retention, and expansion across our portfolio
- Introduce structure where it’s needed - positioning, launch processes, messaging - without slowing things down
- Help prioritize what matters most across a broad and growing set of offerings
- Use data to guide decisions, but don’t get stuck waiting for perfect data
Requirements:
- 7–10+ years in product marketing or a similar role (healthcare, education, or professional services preferred)
- A track record of launching and growing products
- The ability to simplify complex ideas into messaging that resonates and converts
- Comfort operating in ambiguity and building as you go
- Strong cross-functional coalition building skills - you know how to align teams that think differently
- A bias for action and accountability - you own outcomes, not just deliverables
- Grit and follow-through – You push work across the finish line, even when it's messy, ambiguous, or requires multiple attempts
- Comfort with friction – You can navigate differing opinions, strong personalities, and incomplete inputs without losing momentum
- Ownership mindset – You don't wait for perfect direction; you create clarity and move
- Resilience – You can absorb feedback, recalibrate quickly, and keep going without getting derailed
- Bias for action – You'd rather test, learn, and improve than over-plan
- Candidates in the Greater Phoenix Market are preferred; however, we may consider a candidate outside this candidate if they check all the boxes!
