RRC Power & Energy, LLC is a company focused on renewable energy projects, and they are seeking a Field Engineer to oversee subsurface investigations and laboratory testing for utility-scale wind and solar projects. The role involves planning fieldwork, performing geotechnical investigations, and preparing design specifications while utilizing various engineering software.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the planning and execution of subsurface investigation and the laboratory testing program for site characterization of utility-scale wind and solar project under specific work instructions as provided by a senior engineer
- This includes scheduling fieldwork, calling in underground utilities, and interacting with drilling contractors, field engineers and vendors
- Perform fieldwork for geotechnical subsurface investigation including overseeing geotechnical drilling and sampling operations, visual field reconnaissance, and soil and rock logging
- Additionally, geophysical surveys will consist of performing seismic surveys, earth electrical resistivity surveys, and other appropriate surveys as directed by a project geophysicist
- Perform bearing capacity and settlement calculations for shallow and deep foundation systems
- Perform slope stability analysis, earthwork calculations, and prepare recommendations for design and construction of low traffic access roads
- Assist in preparation and submittal of calculation packages, geotechnical report and design memoranda, prepare design specifications, and perform research for new concepts and technologies
- Observe and document geotechnical construction activities through regular on-site inspections of earth-related construction phases for renewable energy projects
- Utilize AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bluebeam, and Revit for field sketches and reporting
- Perform other geotechnical activities as required
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, Geological Sciences or Geophysics or related required
- Must have experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bluebeam, and Revit software for field sketches and reporting
- Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Previous experience in outdoor/field working/driving conditions required
- Can work from anywhere in the U.S. with national travel to client sites required 90% of the time
- Must also be able to travel to Round Rock, TX at least once per month
- Valid driver license and a clean driving record are required
- Must have good oral and written communication skills in English
